If you discover unfamiliar accounts, credit cards, or loan applications in your name, act immediately.

Contact the three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) to place a fraud alert, file a report with the FTC at IdentityTheft.gov, and notify your bank.

The sooner you catch identity theft, the less damage it does.

Even young people should check their credit report annually.

💬 Talk to your kid about this

Ask your child: "Who should know your Social Security number? Why do some places ask for it?"
