What your child will learn
Identify 3 tell-tale signs that text or an image might be AI-generated
Understand that AI can produce realistic fake articles, reviews, and images
Apply a simple checklist to evaluate whether online content is trustworthy
How this mission works
A mysterious "content generator" has been publishing stories, reviews, and articles across the school network — all AI-generated, none marked. Sensei Byte calls in the CyberHeroes to find the fakes. Students examine 5 pieces of content and decide: real or AI? Each decision teaches a detection skill (unusual phrasing, perfect grammar, impossible details, generic images). Ends with students creating their own "Content Spotter Checklist" to share with their class.
What students actually encounter
A product review says "BEST THING EVER 10/10" with no specific details — real or fake?
A photo shows a teacher doing something embarrassing at school — but no one was there that day.
Cipher is with them the whole way
When a student gets stuck on The Content Spotter, Cipher appears with a mission-specific nudge — no spoilers, just a hint toward the right thinking. Make a wrong choice, and Cipher explains the real-world consequence. Finish the mission, and Cipher generates a personalized performance debrief based on exactly how the student played it.
ISTE alignment
Students critically evaluate digital resources and identify AI-generated content using evidence-based observation strategies.
